Ireland’s Department of Transport is investigating claims that ammunition for the Israeli Defence Forces was transported through Irish airspace.

The allegations were made on the website The Ditch.

It was claimed that a cargo flight bound for Israel previously flew through Irish airspace in 2024.

A Department for Transport spokesman said the carriage of weapons of war on a civil aircraft in Irish airspace is prohibited unless an exemption is granted by the Minister for Transport.

They confirmed that no applications have been received in 2023 and so far in 2024 and no exemptions have been granted.

The flight was operated by a civil airline and the Ministry of Transport said it was working on it.

On Monday, Taoiseach (Irish Prime Minister) Simon Harris said he was seeking information about the reports.
