A Chinese tourist visiting Spain was reunited with his stuffed sloth toy after several users on Xiaohongshu helped him find his beloved companion. The toy, which he calls “Brood,” was stolen on June 9 at the Sagrada Familia metro station in Barcelona, allegedly believing the toy was a wallet containing money.

  • The quest: The man spent days searching for Brood, even betting a 500 euro ($540) reward on him and losing his passport in the process. Several Chinese residents of Barcelona helped him by offering shelter and handing out flyers to help find the toy. “Many people may not understand it, but Brood is more important to me than my job, my degree or my possessions. I just want to hug him again, whatever it takes,” he said.

  • Their reunion: A Spanish metro cleaner eventually found the man’s beloved stuffed animal hidden between a ticket machine and a wall on June 15. Overjoyed at the reunion the next day, the man said, “I’ve never received so much kindness in my life. I’m truly grateful.” He also gave the reward money to the person who found the toy.
