CHICAGOAnti-Semitic flyers regarding the war between Israel and Hamas were placed on Chicago’s 50th District Office Sunday night.

Debra Silverstein50th Ward alderman, said the “hateful fliers” were a direct attack on her beliefs.

She is the only Jewish member of the The Chicago City Council.

“Freedom of speech is the hallmark of our democracy, but when that expression crosses the line into hate, we must speak out,” Silverstein said in a statement.

Since the start of the war on October 7 last year, Silverstein says more and more Jews have been targeted.

“No one should ever be victimized based on their religious identity. It is time for our leaders in Chicago to say loud and clear that anti-Semitism will not be tolerated and that hate has no home in our city,” said Silverstein.

One of the flyers taped to the window of the Devon Avenue office read: “Save Gaza. Shame on you Debra. 36,000 dead.”

Chicago police investigated the incident. The office surveillance footage was analyzed.
