WYTHE COUNTY, Virginia.WFXR) – More than a year after his arrest, a Wytheville man has been convicted of second-degree murder for the death of his wife, Angela Dawn Spain, which occurred on May 4, 2023.

On Wednesday, August 7, 53-year-old Charles Lee Spain Jr. was sentenced to 25 years in prison for second-degree murder, desecration of a corpse and strangulation.
Spain Jr. was arrested on May 4, 2023, after his wife was found unconscious in their Lots Gap Road home. The Roanoke coroner determined her cause of death to be blunt force trauma to the head and strangulation.
