TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — An official investigation into the May helicopter crash assassinated Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and seven other people discovered that it was caused by challenging climatic and atmospheric conditions, Iranian state television reported on Sunday.

According to the final report of the Supreme Council of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, the main cause of the helicopter crash was the complex climatic conditions in the region in the spring, state television reported.
The report also notes the sudden appearance of a thick mass of dense fog that rose into the air when the helicopter collided with the mountain.
According to the report, there were no signs of sabotage in any components or systems.
Raisi died along with seven others, including his Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, in the crash in a remote mountain area in northwestern Iran.
