At least 11 Palestinians were killed on Tuesday during Israeli military operations in the occupied West Bank, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
Four people, including a 14-year-old and two 19-year-olds, were killed in Aqaba, the Health Ministry in Ramallah said, while seven others were wounded. The Israeli military has not commented on the incident.
But the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that two separate airstrikes had been carried out in the Jenin area, saying that “armed terrorist cells” had been hit.
At least five people were killed in the airstrikes on Jenin, according to the Ministry of Health in Ramallah.
According to the ministry, two Palestinians were also killed and three seriously injured in another incident near Jenin.
Jenin is seen as a stronghold of militant Palestinians.
The situation in the West Bank has deteriorated significantly since the start of the Gaza conflict, following Hamas’ attack on Israel on October 7 last year.
According to the West Bank Ministry of Health, more than 580 Palestinians have since been killed in Israeli military operations, confrontations or their own attacks.
Moreover, violence by Israeli settlers against Palestinians has increased during this period.
During the Six-Day War in 1967, Israel conquered and occupied the West Bank, the Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem.
Although Israel withdrew from the Gaza Strip in 2005, it still controls the land, air and sea borders.
Palestinians claim these areas to establish their own state.
