The head of the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees on Saturday condemned an Israeli attack on a school in Gaza that Palestinian authorities said killed at least 100 people.
Filip Lazzarinithe head of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), said the incident was “a new day of horror in (Gaza)”.
“The unbearable must not become the norm,” he added.
Lazzarini said all parties to the conflict in Gaza must “protect civilians and civilian infrastructure at all times” and refrain from using “schools and other civilian facilities for military or combat purposes.”
The UNRWA director added: “It is time for these horrors happening under our watch to stop.”
Israel said the building in Gaza City that was hit “served as a hideout for Hamas terrorists and commanders.”
