SAN FRANCISCO (CROWN) — An Air India flight to San Francisco was diverted on Thursday due to a technical problem. Air India flight AI-183 flying from New Delhi to San Francisco International Airport had to be diverted to Russia, a tweet from the airline.
The plane, a Boeing 777-200LR, was diverted to Krasnoyarsk International Airport for what the airline called a “technical reason.” The plane, which took off from Indira Gandhi International Airport at 3:44 p.m., landed safely in Russia.

Air India said it is “working with the relevant authorities to ensure guests are taken care of while we decide on the next steps.”
“At Air India, the safety and wellbeing of our customers and crew remains our utmost priority,” the airline added.
Last month, a metal knife was found in a meal served on board another Air India flight on the way to SFO.
