PARIS (AP) — An environmental activist was arrested Saturday after sticking a protest sign over a Monet painting at Paris’ famed Musée d’Orsay.

It was the last of a number of actions by demonstrators from the Food Riposte group focuses on works of art in France in calls for action to protect the food supply from further climate damage. The museum, known in French as the Musée d’Orsay, is a top tourist destination and home to some of the world’s most beloved Impressionist works.

The activist focused on Claude Monet’s “Poppy Field,” placing a sticker covering about half of the painting with an apocalyptic, futuristic vision of the same scene. The group said it should show what the field would look like in 2100, “devastated by flames and drought”, if more action is not taken on climate change.

According to Paris police, the woman was detained pending investigation.

It is unclear whether the incident damaged the painting. The museum did not respond to requests for comment.
