Without oxygen tanks, Vadim Druelle from France quickly climbed Nanga Parbat. Faster than anyone else, it turns out.

Druelle did it from Base Camp to the summit in an astonishing 15 hours and 15 minutes. This is amazing François Cazzanelli‘s previous record of 20 hours and 22 minutes which he recorded in 2022.

The ascent was a promising feat for an athlete who is only 22 years old. It was especially impressive because Nanga Parbat has one of the highest elevation gains of all the 8,000-meter peaks: some 3,900 meters in elevation in 20 kilometers from base camp to the summit.

Druelle, who was supported by Seven Summit Climbs, had the trail broken by other climbers. Still, his time is remarkable.

Speed and no oxygen are Druelle’s specialty on 8,000ers. He climbed his first, Manaslu, in that style when he was just 19. He’ll do Kangchenjunga in under 19 hours in 2023. Earlier this year, Druelle planned an FKT on Annapurna but had to abandon the climb due to food poisoning.
