Vard has signed a new contract with Navigare Capital Partners for a custom newbuild commissioning service operations vessel (CSOV), marking the continuation of a partnership with Norwind Offshore.

The vessel, based on the VARD 4 19 design, is expected to be delivered in the second quarter of 2027 and will be built in Vard Vung Tau in Vietnam.

This contract represents the exercise of the first option from a previous agreement signed in March, strengthening the ongoing cooperation.

The new CSOV will be the sixth such vessel that VARD has delivered to Norwind Offshore and partners since October 2021, joining other specialist offshore vessels.

The parties have also agreed to two additional options, with potential for further expansion in the future.

Designed by Vard Design in Ålesund, the VARD 4 19 is a platform optimized for offshore wind farm support, with an emphasis on operational efficiency, safety and crew comfort.

The 85 meter long ship, with a beam of 19.5 meters, will have a height-adjustable motion-compensated gangway with a lift system, a 3D crane and a height-adjustable boat landing system.

Advanced battery solutions will also be installed to strengthen the ship’s sustainability profile.

The CSOV will accommodate 87 personnel, the majority in single cabins.

Torgeir Haugan, senior vice president of sales and marketing of Vard, said: “We are pleased that Navigare Capital Partners and Norwind Offshore VARD have once again shown their confidence in building one of their new vessels for their modern and growing fleet focused on the offshore sustainable market. We look forward to continued cooperation.”

Vard Electro’s integrated SeaQ bridge system will be installed to improve navigation safety and operational efficiency, with a user-friendly interface and ergonomic design.

The vessel will also be equipped with Vard Electro’s SeaQ integrated automation system (IAS) and Energy Power Management System (ePMS) for optimal control of the hybrid system.

The SeaQ Green Pilot will provide a digital overview of the ship’s energy consumption, aiding environmental management.

Seaonics, a subsidiary of Vard, will contribute to the vessel’s environmental focus with a fully electric lifting and handling package, including a 30-metre get-to-work gangway and a 7-tonne 3D-compensated crane.

Vard Interiors will provide modern interior solutions and environmentally friendly HVAC-R and duct systems.
