A German military flight carried another 89 German citizens from Lebanon on Tuesday, amid an escalating military conflict between Israel and the Lebanese militant Islamist group Hezbollah.

It was the fourth diplomatic flight carried out by the German army to take civilians out of Lebanon, according to a message on X from the German Foreign Ministry.

Last week, the German air force started flying out employees of the German embassy in Beirut and vulnerable German citizens in the country.

Most recently, 219 Germans were flown out on Friday. Unlike evacuation flights, diplomatic pick-up flights are not accompanied by armed German soldiers.

The German Air Force’s Airbus A321 also brought another 2.1 tons of medical supplies for Lebanon on its way to Beirut, according to the German Ministry of Defense.

Relief supplies had also been on board on previous return flights.
